On December 2, 1993, Colombian National Police charged in a neighborhood in Medellin in search of Escobar. Gunshots were fired and it turned into a bloody massacre. Escobar ran on rooftops with his bodyguard but were eventually shot down by the police. He suffered from shots in the leg, back, and in the ear. Sources say no one knew who shot the last bullet to his head, but his brother confirmed that if he ever got stuck with authorities he would commit suicide. It was a fifteen month search mission that costs quite a bit of money, even from the United States. After his death the Colombian government knew that with Pablo Escobar dead, drug "traffickers" (traders that trade illegally) would still be a problem. The Medellin Cartel is spread all over the world, including the United States. Besides Pablo, there are leaders that also take their drug dealing seriously. Authorities may still be searching for them but, they're still sneaky and know how to hide.
